Dark clouds
Heavily pregnant with the promise of rain
Decorate the sky above us
Matching the storm in your eyes
Your smile evokes
The very thunder in the sky
The lightning crackling under my skin
My fingertips pressed against
The warmth of your chest
Enveloped tightly in your arms
Until all of my broken pieces
Become stitched together again
You grasp me by the waist
and twirl me around
And around
I open my eyes to find myself
Alone
The world still spinning
and spinning
All around me
Silver-tongued fox
With honeyed promises of love
Oozing from your lips
I greedily drank, and drank
Only to wake up in the morning
With a mouth full of ashes
You promised me the world
And destroyed mine in return
The cold radiates
From the place you used to lie
I still find myself sometimes
Twirling
And twirling
Until the street lights become a blur
I dance upon the grave
Of the woman I used to be
Until laughter bubbles out of me
And echoes on the abandoned streets
Filling up the void
You left behind
A new skin has grown
Covering the the scars that lie
In the places your hands used to rest
I see you again
And wait for my heart to stop
But you are unrecognizable to me
Those dark hands no longer familiar
Those arms no longer my home
Those lips no longer steal my breath
No longer drown me
Under the guise of a kiss
I am not yours anymore
So don’t call me
Honey
So powerful, Dina! I love it.
I hope that you’re doing well amidst this craziness!
